Thornbury House is a contemporary extension and internal reconfiguration of an existing Edwardian weatherboard dwelling.
The project involved the rationalisation of the original floor plan to improve spatial flow and functionality, while key heritage elements were sensitively restored to preserve the home's character.
A new two-storey addition was introduced at the rear, designed as a distinct yet complementary counterpoint to the existing structure. The extension adopts a contemporary architectural language, contrasting materiality and form to clearly delineate old from new, while integrating seamlessly with the reworked original fabric.
The design provides a considered response to the needs of a young family of four, transforming a century-old residence into a functional and contemporary home.
